yay america!

we have had a really good weekend so far.

grill out with friends and their adorable six month old baby? check.
watch amazing city fireworks display from front yard? check.
watch idiot neighbors across the lake shoot a roman candle onto their roof? check.
install cabinet hardware after living in home for 9 months? check.
grill more so you can actually get some food, instead of being a good hostess? CHECK!

so far this has been a pretty rad weekend. got to see some buddies, mulch the tree, see beautiful fireworks from two angles thanks to the city of grand prairie and the golf course, and spend some time together.

three day weekends are a blessing and a curse. on one hand...you get three days off of work, which is always a total score. but on the other hand, you put off doing stuff because you think "oh, i have three days, i can just do this tomorrow!" so your three days worth of chores/errands becomes all the crap you have to get done on sunday. what's up, laundry?

in other other news, my interview for big brothers/big sisters went suspiciously well last wednesday. the interviewer was very nice and it was a very thorough visit. i know why they have to ask, but when questions like "are you currently using any illegal drugs?" surface, you know someone before you failed a checkpoint. a BIG urine-y checkpoint. idiot.

so now that the interview is done, my references, background check, and interview answers go through a screening process, and then i find out if i'm approved or denied for a match. from that point, it can take weeks or months before you're matched with a "little", but i'm hoping for the former.

Totally agree on the 3 day weekend thing. My laundry just finally got started on Sunday at 5:30!! Have you met a girl named Cheryl through BBBS? It's a girl I know that works there.
